Water Alkaline level
What is tap water Alkaline supposed to be?
Expert / Admin Answer:
If you are looking at a test strip or a water quality report that lists Total Alkalinity (usually measured in PPM or mg/L), this measures your water's ability to resist changes in pH (its "buffering capacity").
Ideal Range: 20 - 200 PPM (mg/L).
Low Alkalinity (< 20 PPM): This is bad. Your pH will be unstable and fluctuate wildly, often causing corrosion.
High Alkalinity (> 200 PPM): This usually causes scale buildup (white crust) and can give the water a "soda" or bitter taste.
